4-5 – Learn to Shuck, Oysters 101 ?

Join “Shucker Paddy” Patrick McMurray for some fun and frolic while you learn everything you need to know about Wellfleet oysters! Winner of the World Championships of Oyster Opening in Ireland in 2002 and the holder of three Guinness Book of World Records for shucking oysters, Patrick is your go-to guy when it comes to understanding and shucking oysters.
Starting with a Learn to Shuck workshop from 4-5 pm, Patrick will demonstrate several different ways to shuck so you can get at that delicious morsel. Immediately following, from 5-6 pm Patrick will take you on a guided tour of Wellfleet through it’s oysters. Explore the subtle flavor variations in oysters grown in different parts of Wellfleet Bay, learn the difference between farm raised and wild harvested – both delicious, of course! You can sign up for both workshops or just one!

You will need oysters, a shucking knife and we recommend a hand towel or shucking glove. Patrick will have a kit of oysters from various locations in Wellfleet, a specially crafted knife and hand towel supplied by Wellfleet SPAT.
