Shellfish Farm Tours will be back next summer!
Do you know how shellfish are grown and harvested? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a shellfishermen? Tour a working shellfish farm and learn first hand what is involved in shellfish aquaculture.
SPAT will host a series of farm tours this summer. Participants will wade out to a working aquaculture site and learn how shellfish are cultivated in local waters. Visitors will see various species of shellfish in many different stages of growth.
Tours are $20 per person. Children under 12 are free. Attendance is limited to 25 people so advance registration is required. Boots or shoes that can get wet are essential! Please no sandals or flip-flops. Shellfish shells are very sharp and could cut bare feet!
IMPORTANT: Some farms require a fair amount of walking on uneven sand to access the site. Please use your discretion in determining if this activity fits your physical capabilities. Reach out to email@example.com with any questions.
Additional information such as tour location will be provided after registration.
Please keep in mind that there are no permanent facilities at the grant locations but in some cases, there are portable restrooms nearby. Public restrooms are located at the Harbormasters Building on the Pier and at Wellfleet Town Hall.
All participants (or guardians) will be required to sign a waiver at the outset of each grant tour. The waiver text is below, for your information.

I hereby release and hold harmless SPAT, the tour group leader, the shellfisherman and all other persons associated with the program from any and all liability for personal injury or property damage.
